What hydroponic systems does Coltiva work with?

Coltiva works with deep water culture (DWC), nutrient film technique (NFT), and any other hydroponic system built around a reservoir — whether that’s a single tote in a spare room or a multi-tank growroom.

How many sensors, pumps, and tanks can I connect?

A full setup monitors pH, EC, water level, water temperature, and air temperature and humidity, and can drive up to eight pumps — a mix of peristaltic and centrifugal. Those pumps can draw from up to six supply tanks (nutrients, pH adjusters, and fresh water), so Coltiva can mix exactly what your reservoir needs.

What happens if there’s a power cut, a reboot, or I lose Wi-Fi?

Power cut: every pump is electrically driven, so dosing stops the instant power is lost and can’t resume until power is back — nothing doses while the unit is off.

Reboot: Coltiva re-checks all of its sensors as it comes back up, so the app always shows current readings before you dose.

Lost Wi-Fi: you’ll lose remote monitoring and control from the app until the connection comes back. Get in touch if you’d like details on how your specific setup behaves while offline.

How do I avoid over-dosing my reservoir?

You dose from the app, guided by live pH and EC readings rather than a blind timer — so you can add a measured amount, watch the reading respond, and dose again only if it’s still out of range. Peristaltic pumps dose in small, precise steps (as little as 5 ml), which makes it easy to nudge the reservoir back into range without overshooting.

Can Coltiva dose automatically?

Automatic dosing — where you set your pH and EC targets once and Coltiva holds the reservoir in range on its own — is in development. Today, Coltiva monitors continuously and alerts you when a reading drifts, and you dose, refill, or drain from the app, guided by live readings. Get in touch if you’d like to hear when automatic dosing is available.

How often do the sensors need calibrating?

As a general guide, pH probes tend to drift faster than EC or temperature sensors and benefit from rechecking every couple of weeks in continuous use, while EC and temperature sensors typically need it less often. Get in touch and we can suggest a schedule for your setup.

What’s the warranty on Coltiva hardware?

Coltiva is sold by Eflix AB, a Swedish company, so every purchase is covered by Swedish consumer protection law, including your statutory rights if something arrives faulty or stops working as expected. If anything goes wrong, email us and we’ll sort it out.
